Special volunteer surprises an Eagles’ fan with food.
Joseph said, “It helps knowing that there are people out there who can help me. That feels good.”
“When you can come and make a difference in a community, it’s very special.”
– Javon Hargrave, Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Tackle
Caring for Friends had a new volunteer deliver food this football season – Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive tackle, Javon Hargrave. Javon surprised client and Eagles fan, Joseph Anderson, with food and friendship, bringing attention to the dire state of food insecurity in Philadelphia (over 20%) and to help recruit others to volunteer to make meals or take meals to neighbors in need.
Joseph, who is homebound due to health issues that preclude him from working and getting groceries, lives on just $400 a month, and very much appreciates the food and friendship Caring for Friends – and his usual volunteer, Jeff –provides.
Joseph said, “It helps knowing that there are people out there who can help me. That feels good.”
With food provided by Acme and friendship from Javon, Joseph shared in an experience he will never forget.
Javon expressed that it was a meaningful experience for him, too: “When you can come and make a difference in a community, it’s very special.”
