Warehouse Driver

Position Summary:

Founded in 1974 on the belief that no one should be hungry or alone in a world full of caring people, Caring for Friends (CFF) is a volunteer organization and independent food bank serving Greater Philadelphia. CFF provides food and friendship to homebound seniors, veterans, and those with disabilities; provides food to people facing homelessness; and donates food to more than 250 community partners in unserved and underserved neighborhoods. in 2021, CFF rescued, sourced, and distributed more than 12 million pounds of food.

Caring for Friends seeks a full-time truck driver and warehouse associate to bring food to and from our community food partners and Northeast Philadelphia facility.
We are hiring for CDL (53+) as well as thoughtful drivers of vans and 16 foot trucks. A valid driver’s license and  background check are required to join the team. We are flexible: 20-40 hours. We serve the  Philadelphia region and are based in Northeast Philadelphia.

Cook / Kitchen Team Member

The Cook supports meal preparation and food production for Caring for Friends meal programs, helping ensure nutritious, safe, and quality meals are prepared efficiently for individuals and families in need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare meals and ingredients according to kitchen standards
  • Assist with large-scale food production and packaging
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Support inventory rotation and ingredient organization
  • Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers and kitchen staff
  • Help maintain clean kitchen and prep areas
  • Follow production schedules and portioning requirements
  • Support special events and community meal initiatives as needed
  • Commercial kitchen or food preparation experience preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

Food Bank Warehouse Logistics Coordinator

The Warehouse & Logistics Coordinator oversees food inventory movement, warehouse organization, inbound and outbound logistics, volunteer coordination support, and transportation scheduling to ensure efficient operations and timely service to community partners and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing food deliveries and pickups
  • Maintain organized warehouse inventory and storage systems
  • Track pallets, product movement, weights, expiration dates, and inventory levels
  • Coordinate routing and scheduling for trucks, vans, and deliveries
  • Support food safety and warehouse compliance procedures
  • Assist with volunteer workflow coordination in warehouse operations
  • Maintain bills of lading, inventory records, and receiving documentation
  • Monitor freezer, cooler, and dry storage organization
  • Work with kitchen and program teams on food allocation and planning
  • Help improve operational efficiency and warehouse flow
Qualifications:
  • Warehouse, logistics, inventory, or food distribution experience preferred
  • Forklift certification a plus

Director of Development & Donor Partnerships

Reports To:

Executive Director

Position Summary:

The Director of Development & Donor Partnerships drives fundraising growth, donor engagement, sponsorship development, grant collaboration, and strategic relationship-building for Caring for Friends. This role blends nonprofit fundraising with proactive business development and relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute fundraising and donor growth strategies
  • Manage donor pipeline development and stewardship
  • Build relationships with individual donors, corporations, foundations, and community leaders
  • Secure sponsorships, partnerships, and major gifts
  • Coordinate fundraising campaigns and special events
  • Collaborate on grant opportunities and impact reporting
  • Track donor engagement, outreach activity, and fundraising metrics
  • Help shape storytelling, campaigns, and donor communications
  • Support Board fundraising engagement and networking efforts
  • Maintain CRM accuracy and donor records

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years fundraising, business development, sales, or nonprofit development experience
  • Proven relationship-building and communication skills
  • Experience managing donor or client pipelines
  • Comfortable with outreach, networking, presentations, and follow-up
  • Experience with CRM systems preferred

Volunteer Experience Manager

Position Summary:

The Volunteer Experience Manager leads the strategy, coordination, and day-to-day experience of volunteers across Caring for Friends programs and events. This individual ensures volunteers feel welcomed, organized, informed, appreciated, and connected to the mission while helping maximize operational efficiency and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, onboard, schedule, and manage volunteers
  • Coordinate volunteer groups, corporate teams, schools, faith organizations, and community partners
  • Lead volunteer orientations and training
  • Ensure volunteer areas, projects, and workflows are organized and mission-focused
  • Track volunteer participation, hours, and impact metrics
  • Create strong communication and appreciation programs
  • Work closely with warehouse, kitchen, and program teams to align staffing needs
  • Support tours, events, and donor engagement opportunities
  • Help grow volunteer retention and recurring engagement
  • Ensure safety procedures and operational standards are followed

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years volunteer management, hospitality, nonprofit, or community engagement experience
  • Strong people and communication skills
