The Grant Writer plays a critical role in advancing mission by researching, writing, and managing grants that support food access, nutrition programs, volunteer initiatives, warehouse operations, and hunger relief efforts across the United States and the Greater Philadelphia region.

This position requires a strategic thinker with strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate organizational impact into compelling grant proposals and reports. The ideal candidate understands nonprofit funding, food insecurity issues, federal and state food programs, and community-based impact initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and food-related funding programs
• Write, edit, and submit persuasive grant proposals, LOIs (Letters of Inquiry), and funding applications
• Manage grant calendars, deadlines, reporting schedules, and compliance requirements
• Collaborate with leadership, operations, kitchen, warehouse, and finance teams to gather program data and impact metrics
• Assist in developing narratives related to hunger relief, nutrition access, food rescue, volunteer engagement, and community outreach
• Prepare grant reports, stewardship updates, and outcome summaries
• Track funding trends related to food security, food mandates, nutrition programs, and community health initiatives
• Maintain accurate grant records, documentation, and donor databases
• Support strategic fundraising and development initiatives
• Help communicate organizational impact through storytelling and measurable outcomes

Qualifications:

• 2–5+ years grant writing or nonprofit development experience preferred
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Experience managing multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
• Familiarity with nonprofit databases and CRM systems preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to analyze data and present impact clearly
