Volunteer Spotlight
Noel Abejo
I thought I was there to pack food so when I came into CFF, I was shocked I was there to cook.
“Once I came, no one had to ask me to come back –you’re here for the people, here for the community, and you have a real impact.”
“If you want to make an immediate impact in your neighborhood and throughout the city,
here’s your chance.”
In August 2020, my wife saw a post on a local town watch site seeking volunteers. During the pandemic, I didn’t do anything, even though I was usually very active in things like blood drives and bike-a-thons. So she signed me up, and that’s how my journey with Caring for Friends (CFF) started.
I thought I was there to pack food, so when I came into CFF, I was shocked that there was a full-blown kitchen and that I was there to cook. I have been hooked ever since.
Now I get there about twice a month, and each time, I try to bring a crew with me because I know CFF has an urgent need for volunteers.
To those considering volunteering: “If you want to make an immediate impact in your neighborhood and throughout the city, here’s your chance. It’s flexible, it’s fun, and if you work for a company, it’s a great team-building experience.”
Thank you, Noel, for helping feed our neighbors in need!
