Client Friend Testimonial
Patricia McGrath
Before the pandemic, before she started receiving meals from Caring for Friends, Patricia McGrath made meals for our homebound neighbors.
“I’m 88 and I look great, but I’m not. I have 5 or so different ailments — who has the energy to go out and fix a meal? I cry thinking about it.”
Patricia says she loves the homemade meals and even says,
“They saved
my life.”
Before the pandemic, before she started receiving meals from Caring for Friends, Patricia McGrath made meals for our homebound neighbors.
She read about Aid for Friends 40 years ago when founder Rita Ungaro Schiavone spoke at St Jerome’s parish.
“I am an associate member of the Sisters of Bon Secours and we aim to live their values of compassion, healing, and liberty,” she said. “Every May we made meals; the last batch we made 365.”
About a year ago, she reached out for help, and staff member and volunteer Ryan heeded the call.
Patricia says she loves the homemade meals and even says, “They saved my life.”
As has the friendship she’s developed with Ryan.
“If everyone has a person delivering like Ryan, they’re blessed because he brings more than meals — he brings the caring part.”
Patricia encouraged us to use her story to spread the word about Caring for Friends to help more people like her and find more volunteers like Ryan.
