Front Step Philadelphia

Pastor Wesley Tink had planned on retiring in Trenton. Instead, he ended up in North Philadelphia, at Front Step Philly.

“If it wasn’t for CFF, I don’t know what we’d do about providing food to kids in our program.”

“We couldn’t afford to feed the kids if we didn’t

have food from Caring for Friends.”

Pastor Wesley Tink had planned on retiring in Trenton. Instead, he ended up in North Philadelphia at Front Step Philly (FSP) -a non-profit, faith-based organization which, due to lack of funding, had been shuttered for two-and-a-half years.

Under Pastor Tink’s leadership and aid from the community and organizations like Caring for Friends, Front Step Philly flourished, becoming a place of hope for many in the area, especially the children. In the summer of 2022, FSP had 55 kids from the neighborhood in its program, providing them a safe space to play and learn while offering nutritious meals. In an area where over 40% of the population falls below the poverty line, having accessible, healthy food is crucial.

“We couldn’t afford to feed the kids if we didn’t have food from Caring for Friends.” Seven years later, Front Step Philly continues to fulfill its mission: to change lives one step at a time.

“We believe if kids have the additional factor of people caring about them, giving them choices and opportunities, we can help break the cycle of poverty.”
